Bodelwyddan Castle - Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, North Wales, LL18 5YA.
As well as being a historic house and museum, the Castle also boasts large areas of formal garden and natural woodland. It is an ideal location for a family day. It boasts an adventure playground, garden maze, Victorian games room, gift shop and tea room.
Conwy Castle - www.castlewales.com/conwy.html
The castle dominates the entrance to Conwy, immediately conveying its sense of strength and compactness to the observer. The eight great towers and connecting walls are all intact, forming a rectangle as opposed to the concentric layouts of Edward's other castles in Wales. Almost all of the castle is accessible and well preserved. Journeying to the top of any of the towers offers the visitor spectacular views of the town, surrounding coastline and countryside. Sailboats and other pleasure-craft dot the picturesque harbour and quay next to the castle, while flocks of sheep roam the hills.

Silver Birch Golf Course
Betws-yn-Rhos, Abergele, North Wales, LL22 8AW. Tel : 01492 680690
Silver Birch Golf Course at Betws-yn-Rhos is becoming one of the most popular nine hole golf courses on the North Wales golfing scene. Situated in a natural hollow between the sea and hills, the course was completed in 1995 and offers a "pay and play" facility (with Golf Trolley & Club Hire) unrivalled for its scenic qualities and interesting terrain. Designed with the complete amateur in mind, the course is also a very challenging one for the low handicap player. Many a keen golfer has cursed the "Grand Canyon" which, as the name implies, is played over a gorge with a stream in the bottom. The 9 hole Plas Course was added in 2004 allowing 18 different holes to be played.
Beaches
Pensarn beach, Abergele, is the closest beach and has plenty of sand at low tide. At high tide, only the shingle beach remains, but there’s always the small promenade with shops offering refreshments and a small amusement arcade.
If you head through Betws-Yn-Rhos to get across to Colwyn Bay, and head straight across the roundabout and down to the promenade, you can travel along the promenade all the way to Rhos-on-Sea - the sea comes up to the promenade wall at high tide, but leaves nice sandy beaches at low tide - some sand can always be found at Rhos-on-Sea opposite the Cayley pub where the boats are moored. (There’s also a children’s play area a further 200-300 metres past these Moorings.)
Tide times can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/tides and selecting Wales, then Llandudno - this gives high and low tide times for the next six days.
Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay
Eirias Park is great for families, covering 50 acres of parkland, featuring a boating lake, picnic areas, bowling green, tennis courts, pitch and putt golf, and a nice clean leisure centre and swimming pool.
Llyn Brenig
Just up the road from the property, the reservoir is set in 920 acres of moorland and forest in the heart of the Denbigh Moors, with a perimeter of some 14 miles. There are a number of archaeological trails around Llyn Brenig; the relics visible include a ring cairn (a Bronze Age burial mound), and several barrows. Facilities include gift shop, children’s adventure playground, cafe and visitor centre. Activities include sailing, fishing, mountain bike trails and walking.
Llandudno
Llandudno is a charming Victorian seaside resort located in a beautiful setting on the Creuddyn Peninsula between the two limestone headlands of the Great Orme and the Little Orme. Take a ride on the unique Victorian Tramway to the top of the Great Orme and visit the Great Orme Country Park, try Dry Slope Skiing and tobogganing, play a round of Golf, or take an invigorating stroll along the Victorian Pier. You could also shop till you drop in the many high-street stores. Two beautiful beaches, the North Shore and the West Shore. Both in picturesque locations. Professor Codman's original Punch and Judy are in the prime position on the promenade close to the Pier.
Betws-Y-Coed
Swallow Falls - next to the A5 road between Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed the Llugwy River hurls itself into a spectacular chasm in a place known as Swallow Falls. Best viewed after heavy rain the river rushes down from the mountains through tree-hung, rocky chasms. Jagged rocks and crags divide the stream into a number of foaming cascades which tumble headlong over boulders between richly wooded banks.....While its principal viewpoints are situated on the south bank of the Llugwy with the convenience of ample parking along the A5 and within the hotel car park, it is observed far more dramatically if approached on foot along the northern bank. Here, one follows a spectacular, dramatic, narrow, tortuous path–part hewed out of the rock face with grey, threatening crags overhanging part of the route on the one hand and a forbidding abyss clothed with stunted trees on the other.
Fairy Glen - a secluded and enchanting gorge on the river Conwy. A favourite with artists and photographers alike. Located only a short distance from Beaver bridge on the outskirts of Betws y Coed, a combination of rapids and cascades on the Conwy river that are channelled into a narrow ravine. Wooded banks and rock walls clothed with vegetation add to the charm. Fairy Glen is reached by a path from Fairy Glen Hotel beside the A470.
