Lovely friendly pub. My friends & I were camping down the road and dined here on a Friday evening. It was the very best steak pie I have ever tasted, fabulous pastry and the homemade chips were excellent! We went back the next evening intending to eat but found they were fully booked. Bernard Flynn (owner) recognised us from the previous night and said if we don't mind waiting 20-30 mins he would fit us in. Again, wonderful service - we would definitely go back there again...

What more can I say other than; "What a fantastic pub!" The first impression from the outside was of a quiet country pub. Very nicely maintained building with fantastic views around the Welsh countryside. The interior is fantastic, keeping in the same style as the exterior. Oak beams, log burning fires and supprisingly large on the inside! The staff are all fantastic and very friendly. Bernard and Lisa pull out all the stops to make all visitors feel welcome and make sure they have the most enjoyable visit they can! The food is fantastic. Good, honest real home cooked pub food. All made fresh to order and sourced locally which we really liked. We ate there 2 nights in a row because we liked it so much! If you find yourself nearby Betws-yn-rhos I would advise dropping in and taking a look yourself!

so nice to enjoy a good old fashioned county inn, they are difficult to come across these days. had a fabulous time there, lovely staff, great service, fab atmosphere. we ended up booking for xmas day dinner and b&b, sod the washing up. the place we normally go to have 3 sittings so you have to eat and run but here the table is yours for the duration! fab and worth the money (which i hear is the same price as last year, no increase, nice one!) most pubs pack as many as poss in at xmas and rush you out while your still chewing, but not here. looking forward to it!turkey dinner, few drinks, stones throw to bed, what more could we need. jenny

We had a excellent week all round in North Wales after travelling over from Otley and the Wheatsheaf really crowned the week perfectly. Bernard and Lisa are fabulous hosts and can't do enough for you. Don't worry about kids(of any age) and dogs as all are welcome. I'm not a Real Ale man so didn't sample the guest ales myself but range seemed impressive and the 2 other guys on our trip where impressed. We wrapped up our holiday with a meal in the Wheatsheaf and the welsh beef is as good as advertised. I eaten steaks around the world and its as good as I tasted. The sirloin (rare) simply melted in the mouth. Fabulous!! Everyone else in our had nothing but good things too say about their meals and we had a good cross-section off the menu. Betws-yn-rhos is easily accessible from Abergele, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Conwy etc. so if your having a day out /holiday around that part of the North Wales coast I'd whole heartedly recommend you take time to have a meal / evening at the Wheatsheaf Inn!!

What a brilliant, friendly pub, great place to relax and get away from it all. The owners, Lisa and Bernard, are incredibly hospitable and could not do enough for us during our visit. The food was outstanding, truly wonderful and all freshly cooked to order, which made the short wait 110% worthwhile! First night I had the pork special, which was delicious and my husband had the Welsh black beef fillet steak, which he raved SO much about, it made me have it on our second night, WOW!! His meal on the second night, steak and ale pie, was also wonderful. Generous but not OTT portion sizes, (I hate to see the ridiculous amounts of food waste that you get in some pubs/restaurants) and the cheesecake was just delicious. Accommodation was brilliant, clean and comfortable with Freeview TV, what a bonus! Breakfast, again freshly cooked to order, was gorgeous and set us up for the day ahead! We will definitely be back and will bring our dog too, it's nice to see that a pub is genuinely so dog-friendly. Thanks for making our stay so relaxing, we both felt like we'd been away for a week or so, rather than two days!

we stayed here in the guest rooms for three nights back in april. they were renovating the rooms but were more than accomodating to our needs. the food was fab...best burger we had since leaving the states! the pub is wonderful and mr & mrs flynn are both delightful. on the thursday they had a quiz but the bar suddenly erupted to the local male choir who come over after their weekly practice...glorious welsh singing, one of the highlights of our trip for both of us. we hope to return next year and the wheatsheaf will definitely be our 1st booking. highly recommended. phil

On 16-12-2010 puttybum said : "the pub is spotless with a lovely ambience. log burners, dark beams, brasses and traditional cask ales, what more can a customer want from a country pub?? the service we get each visit is always fantastic. there is a regular bus that goes through the village but as you would expect with a small rural village its not every hour all day. the beer garden is sufficient and let me tell you i was there in the summer when it had an abundance of flowers and hanging baskets but at this time of year obviously colour is less as in most gardens. there is a smoke shelter which is quite basic but as a non smoker it doesnt matter to me, but it is enough to keep the rain off someone wanting to enjoy a cigarette. the fact that the original part of the pub is 13th century with beams remaining throughout is lovely with some interesting historic pictures on the walls and a book of the history of the village is on site as i looked through this recently whilst sat by the log burner. i havent been in the b&b rooms but i know they are 3star visit wales which as i know from being in the trade takes some doing as their checks and demands are quite rigorous. all in all a lovely pub whose food CANNOT be compared to chain pub food, its so much better than that!"
“Dog friendly refuge from the rain”
I stopped here for 2 nights with my dog Snoopy, as an alternative to camping in the rain. A charming pub with good food, a friendly welcome from staff and hosts. Great value B&B in en suite rooms above back of pub. Only 5 miles from the coast in a quaint village with it's own golf course. A great random find.

What can I say, good food good company cosy atmosphere just plain fantastic the traditional village pub is far from dead and having experience one of Bernard and Co s live music evening that went hand in hand with a Welsh singing event in the function room I was in heaven all washed down with beer served to perfection by all the professional staff. Thank you guys I ll be back. source : tripadvisor
Stayed for two nights,Lisa and Bernard are very wellcoming and helpful. The food in the restaurant is excellent ,well presented and always piping hot. Rooms are spotlessly clean, good entertainment if required and very friendly staff.Everything you could possibly need at very reasonable prices.,including good countryside views. p.s .the house wines are a very good choice to. Mustn,t forget the breakfast as well, superb.
well worth a visit
We visit my mother in Abergele frequently and were looking for somewhere to eat in the evening other than fast food or takeaway.
We found the Wheatsheaf Inn on the internet and thought we would give it a try, and are quite pleased that we did, hosts Lisa & Bernard make us most welcome.
We have been four a five times over the last few months eating in the restaurant although you can eat in the bar, and the food has always been of the same high standard, well presented, and very good. (try the lambs liver)
We have stayed overnight only once and the room although basic was clean and tidy.
Betsws yn Rhos and the Wheatsheaf are about 15 minutes from the coast and a little of the beaten track but we would still recommend a visit.

DEFINITELY BE BACK”
We saw this place advertised in the Manchester Evening News, they had a two night package for £99 per person which included accommodation and food. Lets get away from it all we thought - and so we did! Firstly the welcome was genuine, the staff were friendly and well presented without being overbearing or over efficient - no ties or name tags thank god. The pub is immaculate if a little dated but cleanliness is the most important so we were happy. The food was honest home cooked fare, nothing to fancy on the menu but it was freshly cooked (you can tell - just go to a generic beefeater/premier inn type of place..bleaurgh!!). The steak was perfect- both nights, the cheesecake was the best my wife ever tasted.
But the most important thing...Lisa and Bernard, the hosts. Wonderful, wonderful people - genuine, easygoing, sooo friendly...Personally we think they are lost in this village - they could easily make a fortune in a place less remote just because of their attitude. We will be back.
Food was brilliant, especially the fish and welsh beef. Stayed for 5 nights. Rooms clean, breakfast scrummy and landlady was a hoot. Highly recommended.
